Site Loggers: Corrective Rather Than Preventive

With the growing number of indecent and violent contents on the Internet, there is also an increasing need for parents to protect their children from these things. Contents that are profane by nature can easily be accessed by children of all ages, as long as they know how to use the computer and log on to the Internet. Sometimes, these contents are even displayed without the child ever intending to do so. These are the reasons why parental control software and Internet monitoring programs are developed.

Site loggers are common features of these software applications. They can also be purchased or downloaded as a separate program. Site loggers are used to record all the websites that were visited by the users of your computer. Putting things in perspective, site loggers are not actually preventive in nature, but more of a repercussion. This means that site loggers, in isolation, do not really prevent your children from accessing the sites that you don't want them to access. All that you can do is to stop what they are doing after learning that they have already accessed such sites.

It is for that reason that site loggers are often used in combination with other parental control software applications. Additionally, they are the reasons why most site loggers are stealth by default. If your children know that they are being monitored by a program of some kind, they will try to avoid the websites that you would rather not allow them to visit. However, if they are present in your computer without the young ones knowing it, their real behavior while online may really be observed.

One of the common features of site loggers is password protection. This feature allows the person who installed the program to have exclusive access. The site logger is also not visible in the list of programs, even in the “Add/Delete Program” list in the Control Panel. The name of the site logger is also not displayed in the running programs in the Task Manager. The logs are kept in a secret folder and may be deleted for a specified time. Finally, the site logger may automatically send the record to a specified email address.
